The Memoir Method:

Dismantling your creative blocks so that you finish that gorgeous memoir.

No matter how many times you sit down to write, nothing in your memoir draft clicks. Eventually your writing sessions become further and further apart, and then you’ve relegated yourself to “waiting for inspiration.” You’re stuck, you don’t know how you got there, and you have no idea how to break yourself out.

This is the block I love to rewire.

This creative block shows up in questions like:

  • Why can’t I figure out what to cut and what to keep?

  • Why does my story feel so scattered even though I’ve worked so hard?

  • Why does editing feel like I’m undoing everything instead of making progress?

I’ve designed everything in The Memoir Method to tackle this headspace and this creative block.

What makes The Memoir Method different:

Here’s what you might not know about me: I’m writing a memoir too.

I share this less as a credential and more as a confession: I have done the exact same things as you that have completely blocked my creative flow. I know exactly how it feels to neglect my draft and then spend months not opening it once. I am all too familiar with the sinking feeling of rereading my own working and knowing that it hasn’t clicked yet. I also know what it took for me to stop treating my writing like an indulgence or side project and start showing up for it like a writer who takes her ideas, her mind, and her work more seriously than anyone else.

This shift from waiting for inspiration to showing up every single day changed everything. The shape of my days has evolved (and it evolved fast): the way I protect my creative energy, what I let into my mind and what I consciously keep out, and how I structure my time has allowed me to ideate, write, revise, and even publish in ways that I never had when I was just winging it with my creative process.

This is the work, experience, and insights that I bring into The Memoir Method. I’m not regurgitating principles that I learned in a textbook. I’m in the work with you, coaching you on how to take The Memoir Method phases and integrate them in an organic way into your personal creative process. I had to make these shifts in my creative life first before I could bring them to you, and this is the work that makes everything you’ll learn inside of The Memoir Method stick.

After fifteen years of working with memoir writers and a lifetime of writing myself, here’s what I know to be true: your draft is fixable, and it’s not your primary problem. The actual block you face is in how you show up to the draft. When we fix that—align how you think about your writing, what you let into your creative field, and how you’re actually working—the manuscript moves, every single time.

Inside of The Memoir Method (in every format), we lock in the throughline of your memoir and shape your draft around it, all while building the foundation of your creative process that makes the work sustainable long beyond our time together.

The Memoir Method works because we look at not only the functional pieces of memoir, but fine tune the wiring behind your creative process as well.

“The work I was able to do within The Memoir Method completely transformed how I will tell my story. Charlotte is an invaluable resource for authors in all stages, but especially for those who view themselves as aspiring authors. Her structured program helps you understand that you already are an author, because you have a story to tell.”

—Liz, writer in the winter 2026 cohort

How we make sense of your current memoir draft:

Whether you desire the full cohort experience or a more private container, The Memoir Method will take you through three distinct phases:

Now, choose your path: The Memoir Method framework is the same regardless of which format you choose. What’s different is how closely you’ll work with me, how fast you’ll move, and whether you want the energy of an intimate community or a fully private, 1:1 container.

Tell me about the cohort

Phase 1: Lock in your foundation

We define your focus, your reader, and your memoir’s throughline. You may have touched on these concepts before, but here is where these principle click for your story and your draft. This is where you’ll feel that creative fog lift.

Phase 2: Shape your story

We refine your structure, scene selection, and voice so that your message comes through clearly and sounding like you. This is where your memoir comes together into a cohesive experience for your reader and you think, I’m really going to finish this!

Phase 3: Implement and move forward

You apply what you’ve learned directly to your manuscript and map your next steps in the publishing pipeline: revision, querying, even self-publishing.

But before we dive into which Memoir Method experience would be the best for you, here is a resource that changes everything:

Every writer who enrolls in The Memoir Method—in any format—receives immediate and complimentary access to my Writer’s Workshop, a three-session workshop series that walks you through a deep audit of your current creative process.

You can consume all of it before our first call together, as you move through the program, or return to it whenever you need a reset. This resource is yours and included for every single Memoir Method writer.

Why give this access to you? The craft work we do inside of The Memoir Method is amplified when your creative foundation is solid. The teaching inside of The Writer’s Workshop addresses the pieces that live underneath the manuscript: the mindset you bring to the work, the content you’re pouring into your mind, and the writing rhythms that make consistency sustainable instead of forced.

When you have those pieces in alignment, the memoir work becomes lighter, faster, and more fun. (And I know this because this is exactly the work I needed to kick my own creative flow back into high gear.) This is the experience I desire for every writer in my space.

A note from Charlotte, the writer

I’m not going to bullshit you: I have spent years coaching and editing memoir writers while avoiding my own creative work.

Writers would come to me after spending years circling their drafts. They had spent hundreds, sometimes even thousands of dollars, on other editors and programs that didn’t work. They’d read all the books, listened to all the podcasts, watched all the YouTube videos, and hadn’t moved forward an inch.

I quickly realized that your talent as a writer and the quality of your current draft is not your problem, which led me to the question, What is keeping you stuck? Where are you falling off the rails? The answer forced a hard look into my own process and creative life, which for a long time was almost nonexistent.

For me to be able to support you at the depth you need, I saw that it was long past time for me to take my own creative work seriously and figure out why I was avoiding my own memoir and creative output. I am no different from you.

I started by reconfiguring how I spend my time, what I allow into my creative field, and how I show up for my own work, and the dam blocking my creative flow burst. Ideas came in faster than I could write them down. Subscribers flooded into my Substack. A magazine emailed one of my essays to over 15,000 people. My talent didn’t magically level up, and I didn’t have more time. I just stopped working against my own creative wiring and harnessed it to my advantage.

The editorial expertise and the frameworks I built work, but I’d still see writers stall out. The problem is never the draft: it’s how you engage and nurture your creative process. The writers who figure out their creative flow inevitably unlock the core and structure of their memoir.

This unlocking is what I want for you inside of The Memoir Method. Do I want you to finish your draft? Yes. But that won’t happen if you don’t learn how to take your writing seriously and to reshape your creative flow. I want you to devise a creative life that fits who you are and how your life looks, so that your memoir is just the first of many creative works you finish and publish.

I’m not just your editor who happens to write. I was a writer first, and I’m always and forever a writer. That’s what makes my editing work for my clients.

Ready to completely transform your creative life?

Let’s go.

What other writers have to say about The Memoir Method with Charlotte

Every single penny was worth it. Charlotte helped me understand parts of my own story through new lenses. Sometimes you’re too close to your own story and because of that, you can’t see it clearly. Charlotte will help you dissect your story and piece it together in a way that makes sense to anyone who reads it.

—Liz, spring 2026 cohort writer

Charlotte is not your typical editor. She cares deeply about you and your story and will do everything to help you refine it in a way that will help you succeed. She is the biggest cheerleader and makes you feel like you, and your story, matters. This process works!

—Julie, spring 2026 cohort writer

The Memoir Method is a one-of-a-kind program for helping you get unstuck in your writing. It teaches you skills about writing you never learned in school with the support of a coach and community to help you get across the finish line.

—Rob, winter 2026 cohort writer

The Memoir Method—regardless whether you choose the cohort or a private container—is for you if:

  • Your draft feels like a scrambled mess you can’t pull together.

  • You have hundreds of pages of writing (tens of thousands of words) and no idea what to do with them.

  • You’ve worked with editors before or taken other courses but still don’t feel like anyone understands what you’re trying to say.

  • You’re tired of rewriting without knowing whether it’s helping or making your draft worse.

  • You want an author who understands the creative process and can be a true creative partner.

  • You’re craving clarity, not just in your writing but in who you are meant to be as an author.

I can speak to this work, because I am also a writer. I understand the creative process, its ups and downs, and I know the mental and practical shifts you need to take your memoir from its current state to a published one.

If you want to write a memoir, you are meant to. The creative process is not meant to elude you, and I’m here to make this work accessible, fun, and transformative. Ready to go? Because I am.
